The TriBeCa Festival in Lisbon will return in 2025. The news was already semi-announced, but now the dates and a new feature have been announced: the event that showcases and discusses cinema and culture will be extended from 2 to 3 days.
The news was announced this Tuesday, March 11, and communicated by Tribeca Enterprises, SIC, the streaming platform OPTO and the Lisbon City Council, partners in this initiative. Thus, the TriBeCa Festival Lisboa will take place from October 30th to November 1st this year at the Unicorn Factory Lisboa.
This festival will feature major new independent films, some of which could be released in commercial cinemas a few months later and even in the running for an Oscar, as was the case in 2024 with “Anora”, the film that opened the Lisbon festival and went on to win the golden statuette. There will also be Portuguese and European cinema, podcasts, music and many discussion panels, in which some national and international celebrities linked to the film and cultural industries are expected to be present.
“Last year, the city of Lisbon welcomed Tribeca with open arms and we found it to be a home away from home, a creative haven full of inspiration and innovation. This year, we are thrilled to return for the second Tribeca Festival Lisboa,” explained Jane Rosenthal, co-founder and CEO of Tribeca Enterprises. “Tribeca believes that cities flourish when their arts communities are supported, which is why this partnership means so much to us.” Francisco Pedro Balsemão, CEO of Impresa, which brought the festival to Portugal, recalls the “incredible and unique experience for the Portuguese public” that the first edition was and guarantees that, this year, there will be an “increase in talent, quality content and unforgettable conversations”. Carlos Moedas, Mayor of Lisbon, spoke of the city’s “commitment to culture and artistic innovation.”
